Well now that we have access to a car again, we are out and about several times during the week. And then we get home and the kids still want to do their fun summer activity. I’m not going to lie; it is just way too hard on me to take them places AND do a lot of planned activities at home PLUS all my normal at-home chores. I have SO much to do still to get ready for preschool, so I just do not have a lot of time! So I decided that for the rest of the summer, for the most part, we are going to be done with our planned activities at home. We will still do our Make a Treat Monday because we need a FHE treat. We will also continue Trip to the Beach Tuesday. And if we don’t have anything going on, we will also do our Who’s Up for Crafts? Wednesday. But other than that, I think we are about done with planned activities at home!
On that note, here’s what we actually did this week:
On Monday we wrote letters to the kids’ new pen pals. We are doing a pen pal group with a group on Facebook. Makenna is now pen pals with a little girl named Shelby from Oregon (who is also 5) and Max is pen pals with a little boy from Utah also named Max (and also 4). They are so excited to get to know new friends AND get mail. : ) I thought their first letters to their pen pals were too cute!

Max can’t really write yet, so I wrote what he dictated:

Love them! Makenna has already received a letter back from her pen pal and she can’t stop talking about her new friend!
This week for our FHE treat, I got to use my Christmas present I got from my parents when we visited last week—an ice cream maker!

This sucker is awesome! The ice cream tastes just like the usual homemade ice cream, but it is SO easy to make! You just freeze the bowl and then the ice cream is made in less than 20 minutes—no ice and no salt and no loud noises. And delicious!

You have got to get one of these!!! : )
On Tuesday we went to the beach but it was so, so, so cold!!! The sun was shining and it was a nice day, but when we got there it was only 61 degrees! So out by the water and with the wind blowing, we were freezing! The kids couldn’t get in the water, so they just played in the sand.

Well even THAT was too cold. So after just about 15 minutes, we decided no more beach! So instead we went back to our house with some of our friends and had a picnic in the school room and had a play date! So much fun AND the baby got to take a nap in his bed AND I didn’t have to constantly watch the kids, haha. It was a really fun day!
On Wednesday, we were staying home all day and the kids wanted to do a craft, so we got out the dot paints.

On Thursday morning we went to a friend’s birthday party at the farm and then Thursday evening we went to a Wellness event sponsored by our insurance. On Saturday we went to a cool car parade/show. But we took so many pictures at each of those I will do a separate post on them! : )
On Friday I went out to check the mail and saw a package on our doorstep. It was from Amazon and had my name and address on it, but there was no return address. So I opened it up and there was a set of Lincoln Logs in it! Now I have been looking at Lincoln Logs on Amazon for a while. I need to buy them for preschool, but I just never have bought them. So I was so excited to get them! But… I didn’t order them! So I asked Austin… and he didn’t buy them either! There wasn’t an invoice or anything in the box. So we have no idea where these came from! But we were THRILLED to not have to buy them ourselves, haha. So on Friday we spent our afternoon building houses with Lincoln Logs! : )

This morning (Sunday) I got up and went to the bathroom and when I came back, I found this in my bed!… : )

A little while later I nursed the baby and he started throwing up. He threw up over and over again. Austin gave him a bath and then he threw up again. So we decided I would stay home from church with him. Well Austin took the big kids to church. He and Max looked like little twins so I just had to take their picture!

The poor sick baby is still such a cute, happy little guy. Who smiles and acts happy when they are sick?!?

This cute guy! Feel better Baby Myles!
It was a really fun, full, and busy week!
Other pictures from this week:
The kids thought it would be fun to “lock” me and the baby in “jail” one day. They made us stay there until Austin came home from work!

Hair this week:
For some reason, I just wasn’t feeling up to doing hair this week! So we don’t have much to show…
I braided the top of her hair, did a pony tail. and then did some twists.

I’m not positive what I even did here. I did like two lace braids and then braided them together? Haha, I don’t actually know!

Some topsy turveys:
I put her hair half up and then used that hair to do a lace braid on each side and then did a Dutch French braid underneath and then braided it all together.

A side fishtail braid:
