We were invited to spend our Halloween Night at some friends’ house. We got there a little late (costume problems) but as soon as we arrived the kids and dads went Trick or Treating around the neighborhood. It was NASTY out! The temperature wasn’t that bad, but it was rainy and windy and just yucky. It rained ALL DAY LONG on Halloween and it was just a soppy mess out there. My kids didn’t stay out long before they came back to the house. They were soaked to the bone and had to strip off their costumes as soon as they came in… but they had fun! : ) Soon all kids and dads came back and the kids went down to the basement to watch movies… and then it was adult Halloween party time! Well adults and babies. We had four cute little babies join us for the party. : ) These little ones were all born within months of each other!

There was an adult costume contest and Austin and I actually WON! We were “Austin on the weekend.” Haha. Although Austin DOES like to relax and watch TV on the weekend, he generally doesn’t wear my bathrobe to do so! ; )
Our party was a Fear Factor party and it was HORRIBLE! We had to do all sorts of just insane things… yet it was also ridiculously fun! We were divided up into teams and you HAD to do the challenges so you didn’t cost your team points. And for added competitiveness, spouses were on opposing teams!
We had to do a mystery taste test (not TOO bad but I didn’t realize that molasses—one of our mystery foods-- were so disgusting!).

We did a trust fall. Not too scary for many of us, but it was still crazy to catch all of these adults! I’ve only done it with youth before!
Then we had to move LIVE WORMS with our MOUTHS! That was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING and CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT! Luckily we were allowed to use a fork (but were docked points for it), but many (like my HUSBAND) just used their mouths. These worms were also pretty darn psycho and jumping all over the place. Ugh. So, so gross!

Another challenge was to stand barefoot in ice cold (and it was ICE cold) water for a minute or so and then try to take objects out of the water before the other players. This one wasn’t too bad either. My cold shower I had to take while our water heater was broken prepared me well for this challenge. : )

Another challenge was to drink this yucky stuff without throwing up. Honestly, harder than it sounded! We found out later it was prunes and pineapple and a bunch of other gross things blended up. You just couldn’t help the gag reflex- even my doctor husband was having a hard time keeping it all down!
For the next challenge we were blindfolded and had to stick our hands in gross stuff to find the missing “eye ball.” I am pleased to announce I did it in the fastest time! : )
The last challenge was the super disgusting one. We had to EAT crickets, sardines, and grasshoppers. So, so, so nasty!

I went first and popped a cricket in my mouth. Someone told me it would be easier to just swallow it whole without chewing it. So I tried. AND THE CRICKET LET GOT STUCK IN MY THROAT! Oh man it was so GROSS! I cannot believe I did that!

I ate the grasshopper too. It was crunchy and yucky but if you didn’t think about what you were eating it wasn’t too bad. I, however, refused to eat the sardine. Oh my goodness it smelled so horrible! There was just no way! My brave (and disgusting) husband ate all three!
After we were all finished points were tallied and my team won! Woo hoo! I guess the disgusting was worth it after all! : )
We got home SUPER late that night so I canceled preschool for the next day and kept Makenna home from school. She was sad at first, but she realized it was a good idea after she kept falling asleep all day! At the end of the day she gave me this note:

It ended up being SUCH fun Halloween!
