Halloween morning Makenna had her school Halloween party. She was excited to get to wear her costume to school and do fun activities all day. I am her room Mom so I was quite busy planning her party all month long, but I think all the kids had a great time.
She had to bring a candy treat to exchange with the other kids before the party. We made little candy pumpkin men for everyone (I also made these for her candy exchange at Dance and for Max to give to friends at preschool).
When Makenna got home that day we went through her things from the candy exchange. That girl got SO MUCH candy!
I had parents to run everything at the actual party, so instead I ran around taking LOTS of pictures!
A class picture:
Her teacher was cute and took individual pictures of all of the kids in their costumes. I had to sneak my own picture of Makenna in. : )
Waiting in line to go to the school-wide costume parade:
The school costume parade was kind of neat. Each classroom went by the camera and it was broadcast to all the classrooms. While Makenna’s class was gone to be on the video, I watched from her classroom and took a picture of her.
While they were gone I also set up my centers.
We did a “Roll a Pumpkin” game. They had to roll the dice to see which part of their pumpkin they drew on next.
Bean bag toss:
Ghost bowling:
“Don’t Eat Pete” Monster style:
They also had a tic-tac-toe game that the other Room Mom prepared.
After the activity rotations, the kids got to eat yummy treats. I thought our food table looked really nice!
My food contribution was little witch hat cookies:
Like I said, I think the party turned out well and the kids all seemed to have fun. Makenna said she had fun at least! It was a ridiculous amount of work to plan, actually. I mean, it was easy to plan and make and prepare the games and the party itself was easy, but it was like pulling teeth working with some of the other parents (even though they VOLUNTEERED to help!). Oh well. At least it is done and there are no more parties until the Christmas party! (Wait! That is next month! Umm…)
While Makenna and I were partying at her school, a new friend from the ward came over and watched the boys. She had to leave as soon as we got back home (it was a half day of school so school was over after the party), but she brought lunch for us! She decorated cute little bags for us and gave us a pumpkin orange and even cut sandwiches into shapes for us. How absolutely adorable and wonderful is that?!?
