It is Fall, baby!

Well it is definitely Fall here in Michigan! The weather is getting quite chilly—most days are in the 30s, 40s, and 50s—and we have had all the gorgeous reds, oranges, and yellows everywhere outside. One downside to Autumn time is the falling leaves all over the yard. We have several HUGE trees in both our front yard and our backyard, so you can only imagine the amount of leaves covering our grass! Austin is at work quite a bit (and when he is home it is either dark or raining), so one afternoon a few weeks back the kids and I decided to get outside and rake the leaves.

Well the kids soon tired of raking, but I kept at it for over two hours. I STILL did not finish raking the FRONT yard—seriously we have THAT many leaves. A week or so later, Austin had a day off so he and Max raked leaves while Makenna was at a birthday party. Austin did a MUCH better job at raking than me! Maybe it is because he had SO much “help” from this little guy:

The boys finished up raking just in time for a wind storm that knocked even MORE leaves into the yard. Welcome to Fall in Michigan! : D

Halloween Night

I was actually a bit concerned about Halloween this year. We live in a new neighborhood, the houses are a bit far apart, there are no sidewalks, most people in the neighborhood are older or have teenagers, there are no street lights—how were we going to go Trick or Treating?!? Luckily we had friends invite us over for dinner and Trick or Treating so we didn’t have to worry! : )

So at 5:30, we met Austin over at our friends’ house for a yummy chili dinner—to which Makenna said, “Yum! I actually DO like chili!” : ) After dinner, the men took the kids Trick or Treating while the moms stayed at the house to give out candy.

(Austin said it quickly got too dark for pictures, so we only have a few.)

It rained on the little Trick or Treaters most of the time, and they got pretty wet and tired and cold, but when they came back about a hour later their treat buckets were FULL and they were so happy with their loot!

We finished out our evening with doughnuts and hot chocolate. A great ending to a fun Halloween!
