(I am behind on blogging so Myles is now actually 13 months old. So my “facts” about him are probably more for him now at this age then right when he turned one!)
We love this Myles boy! He has been such a joy and has brought such happiness into our family! Even now, after having him in our family for over a year, we can’t get enough of this child! He is going to be one spoiled little turkey—but spoiled in the best way; spoiled with LOVE!
Myles was the latest of our three children to master large motor skills. He rolled over later, he crawled later, and he walked later. By his one year birthday he still wasn’t walking. He could stand and we KNEW he COULD walk, but he just wouldn’t do it. When we would try to get him to walk from me to Austin, he would do it but he would cry the entire time. It wasn’t until about 12 1/2 months that he actually started walking confidently on his own. Now at 13 months he is a walking pro. : ) He loves to practice his new skill and toddles all over our house now!
Myles is generally a very happy little guy. He is a mama’s boy and gets clingy sometimes, but we can usually find something to make him happy again!
Myles has 8 teeth (four front and four bottom) and is working on four of his molars. He is still nursing and I’m afraid I will NEVER get him weaned because he loves nursing! He currently nurses 4-6 times a day. He also doesn’t really like table food yet (his pediatrician said it is probably a texture thing and to not worry too much about it yet). So right now he eats two tubs of oatmeal/cereal/rice baby foods for breakfast, two tubs of baby food for lunch (a meat and a vegetable), and two tubs of baby food for dinner (a meat and a fruit). He will also eat some of our dinner at meal times (breads, crusts, sometimes fruits or vegetables). He usually has 2-3 snacks a day. His favorites are the baby veggie puffs and fruit and yogurt bites. He loves water and drinking out of his own cup but will only drink a little milk.
Myles is becoming a regular little talker. He can mimic just about anything but will only do it when HE wants to. On his own he will say cat, snack, shoes, socks, Mama, DaDa. He will also sometimes say “Night Night” and “All Done.” He loves to answer every question by shaking his head no. The big kids think he is hilarious and laugh like crazy at him when he does it.
Myles loves to play with the big kids. He climbs all over them and thinks he is just as big as they are! He also loves rolling cars and trucks back and forth and making little car noises. He likes to play with the toy kitchen and open and shut doors and drawers and get into trouble! We are always chasing him out of the kitchen or bathrooms or laundry room; it is almost impossible to keep this mischievous boy out! We recently got a cat and Myles loves to pet and kiss and chase her. : )
Myles is still not the best sleeper. We put him down to bed at night between 7 and 8. For the most part he sleeps until 6 or 7, but sometimes he still wakes up a couple of times during the night. We just cover him back up and put him back to bed—no more night time nursing! Speaking of covering him up, he still has to be swaddled before he will sleep. It is pretty silly because then he immediately unwraps his arms and rolls over on his side or stomach, but he won’t go to sleep unless we wrap him to begin with! He is no longer taking a morning nap even though I think he still needs one-- he is pretty whiney in the mornings. But if we put him down for a morning nap he won’t take an afternoon nap and I much prefer afternoon naps. So currently we let him whine in the mornings and then put him down for a nap right after lunch. Then he will take a nap for about a hour and a half.
Myles is such a darling little guy and we love having him in our family. Here’s to another great year with our sweet baby Myles!
