Our March birthday week continued with Makenna’s sixth birthday on Friday. This year was our very first birthday with a school age kid and it was a little sad to not have our birthday girl with us at home all day, but Makenna loved all her at-school birthday fun!
That week Makenna was the Student of the Week at school. She got to share a lot of her favorites with her classmates, including the cute “All About Makenna” poster she made.
On her actual birthday she got up and dressed and then was really excited to see what presents she received.
We got her a big sewing/craft kit because she is turning into such a crafty little kid:
And she also received a school kit to play school:
She and Max instantly got started playing school:
They have had so much fun playing with that!
Cute birthday girl:
For breakfast Makenna chose to have fruit and granola and yogurt with chocolate milk.
And then she was off to school! That afternoon the boys and I went to her classroom to share birthday treats with her classmates. We made little glowstick favors that she passed out:
And then for her treat we made cotton candy cones.
When we got to her school she passed out her cotton candy cones and juice and her favors and then everyone sang Happy Birthday to her and she (with Max joining her) got to enjoy her treats with her classmates.
It was fun for Max to get to be there and it was cute to see Makenna introduce him to her classmates and classroom. Afterwards we went back home and Makenna finished her school day.
That night Makenna had dance so we just had spaghetti (one of her favorites) for dinner. Then after dance we had cake at home (I took a picture, but can’t find it anywhere! Grr!)
On Saturday night we went out to one of her favorite restaurants, Don Pablos, for one of her favorite foods—quesadillas. We totally forgot that the restaurant would be busy (hello Saturday night!) so it was late before we got to eat, but the food ended up being delicious as always!
She loved getting to wear a sombrero and getting sung to!
Happy birthday Miss Makenna!
