What a day!

Yesterday I was super mom! I'm not kidding--I was so proud of myself! Why was I super mom? Well, this is what I accomplished yesterday:
  • cleaned two bathrooms
  • cleaned the kitchen
  • swept and mopped all tile floors
  • dusted bedrooms
  • cooked TWO meals (this is huge for me! I never, ever cook!): I made a Chicken Ceasar Salad Pie for lunch and for dinner I made Italian Soda Bread (yes I baked!), a Chicken Casserole, and a Fruit Salad! All from scratch! You may not think this is much, but for a non-cook I feel like I flew to the moon!
  • washed a couple of loads of laundry
  • had a friend come over for about an hour
  • made two homemade birthday cards (which look pretty dang cute)
  • And took care of an 11 month old who thinks she is already in her terrible twos!

While I'm on the topic, let me tell you what my crazy little girl did yesterday. She is finally starting to leave the room I am in and play on her own. I totally encourage this because she has been my little shadow for 11 months! So I let her wander (or is it wonder? wander I think...) on to other rooms and just go and check on her every five or ten minutes. Our house is pretty open so this is no problem right? Well, this got her in some big time trouble yesterday. Here is Makenna's list of what she did yesterday:

  • Took a washcloth out of the dirty laundry and used it to soak up water from the toilet and wash the bathroom floors for mommy! By the time I got there, I had an inch of water on the bathroom floor and zero water left in the toilet. Thanks for helping clean Makenna! : 0
  • Went to her bedroom and was playing so nicely! I checked on her twice and she was just playing with toys or making faces in her mirror. Well I went and checked on her again and she had all of her trash dumped out and thrown all over the room! She had also went in her closet and pulled out everything!
  • Decided her new favorite place is the cabinet with all of the scary cleaning supplies in it. I don't know what to do about this one! We can't put in the little child locks because we can't drill into these cabinets; they aren't our cabinets and I personally don't want to have to pay for cherry cabinets! And we can't tie them shut because they are flat cabinet doors and don't have knobs! Any suggestions?
  • Tried turning the stove on (she got her hand spanked for that one--she can't turn on the stove! Soooo scary and dangerous!).
  • Turned the dishwasher off mid-wash.
  • She also helped mommy clean: mommy found toys and shoes in the garbage can! Thanks for cleaning up! : 0
  • She also decided to wash her shoes. Mommy found shoes in the dishwasher. How did they get there? The only time the dishwasher was open I was right there loading and unloading it. Really, how did that happen?
  • And last of all, made Daddy's lip bleed by smacking him with the remote.

Whew! Mommy was super mom and Makenna was super... umm... super... "helpful." Who would have thought--terrible twos at not even one! If she wasn't so darn cute we might have to give her away to someone! : )

My turn to Digital Scrapbook

Jillian was talking about digital scrapbooking and I wanted to try! We don't have Photoshop on our computer, but I did find this thing called Picasso that I guess Austin uses to look at slides for school. I decided to try my hand at my own scrapbooking page. This is from our trip to the zoo (we already blogged about this, but I figured the zoo trip would be a good start to my scrapbooking). I think the page turned out pretty good for my first try! Also, my first time to even use the Picasso program!

Yesterday was finally a beautiful day! We have had cold, windy weather this week (well, it was in the 50s so probably not too cold) so we were glad for some sunshine! Makenna and I went to BabyTime in the morning and Dad came home at like 2:00, so we just waited and asked him to go to the park with us. This time I remembered the video camera. Yea! We finally have park videos!

I hope you heard our silly baby laughing! She loves the park!

*Take notice of her outfit: polka dot shirt with a plaid skirt. I know they don't traditionally go together, but I think Makenna looks adorable! I discribed the outfit to my mom and she said she was coming to get Makenna and take her away from us--she said it is abuse to dress someone in polka dots and plaid!

She honestly would stay in the swing forever and ever!

We {Heart} the park! We especially {Heart} the park when Dad comes too!

The Bad and the Adorable

Oh boy... today was when all of my paperwork was due to DES. So I had to go gather it all up (yes I know I was being pretty last minute!) and bring it in.
Our caseworker told me that I needed a letter from my old employer of how much money I made from November to now and that I no longer work there. He also said that I needed proof of pregnancy from the doctor (look at me! Isn't that proof enough?). But then we received a letter from him that said we needed completely different things! So I was completely confused about what he needed. Anyway, so I had everything gathered up except for those two letters. I have been trying for two weeks to get that letter from Human Resources and the HR lady never returns my e-mails or call. So I had to go to my old school today and get a letter saying when I stopped working and I had to gather up all of my paystubs to bring in because my old principal isn't supposed to say anything about money!
Well we got to the school and for some reason Makenna just started crying and crying and crying. Tears were just streaming down her little face and I have no clue why! I finally calmed her down and we left and headed to the doctor's office. I had called yesterday and so just needed to pick up that letter today. We got there and I walked a thousand miles to the building (it is such a pain to walk that far--being pregnant and holding a baby!) and got upstairs and... the doctor's office closed at 12:30! And it was about 1:10! Shoot! So I headed to DES anyway. Makenna and I waited in line for an hour and got all of our papers turned in. We came home and found out... I had to return to DES! Their copy machine wasn't working correctly and some of the copies had come out blank! Augh! I do not like that place!

To make up for my rant, I would like to share the most adorable picture of all times:

If you don't think that is adorable, I am pretty sure you are wrong!

A bit of nothing...

So this is just basically a not-really-anything post. Makenna has met Annie's kids, Logan and Cole, only a handful of times. But she has decided that she adores them! So I check Annie's blog frequently and let Makenna look at pictures of them (she is so ridiculous--she will jump up and down and yell and wave at the pictures!). Well I teased Annie and told her that she needs to post more. I mean, come on! It had been 6 days already! And she promptly wrote back and reminded me that it had been just as long since I had written! So, although I don't really have anything to post about, I figured I would just put up three random pictures that I took of Makenna this week:

This picture shows you what Makenna and I do all day: watch TV! Makenna loves changing the channel on the TV! Mommy and Daddy... not so much.

Cheese! Or not...

I think this is the cutest picture ever! Makenna was just sitting in front of our balcony doors, looking out the window and sucking her thumb! This was pretty much the first time I have ever seen her just sit quietly! She sat there for like five minutes!
Okay, that's the end of my random post! Aren't you glad you took the time to read/look at it? : )
Oh, one more thing. Today at church Makenna was walking like a pro! Great job!

A BIG Surprise!

Makenna learned a new trick:

Can you believe it? She is WALKING! Today at church she was standing up without pulling up on anything. Then she decides that she doesn't want to crawl-so she starts only walking on her hands and feet with her bum in the air. So tonight I decided, let's practice walking! So she walks back and forth between me and Austin but she won't let go of our hands. So Austin decides to trick her: as she is walking to me he let's go of her and she walks a few steps to me. When she realized what she had done, she starts clapping like crazy. And then all of sudden she went, "Wait I can walk!" And she just went off walking like crazy. Yes, I know, babies walk. But I think this is the coolest thing ever. And even though she already has a big bruise on her forhead from falling, she is pretty dang excited too!

Yesterday-fantastic! Today, not so great

So yesterday was beyond fantastic. Today? Horrible! We had our appointment today at DES (it's a place for like state medical, financial, and so forth aid). The appointment was scheduled for 8:00 am. We got there and the place was so packed! Oh, let me back up. I had been to DES once before; it is a very gross, dirty place in a not so great area. Anyway. So we got there and the place was packed! I signed in and we didn't have a place to sit. Wouldn't you think someone would give up their seat to a pregnant lady holding a baby? Nope! Finally someone had their name called and we took their seat. And we waited... and waited... and waited... at 11:00 (yes, 3 hours later!) I went up to the desk and talked to the receptionist. She said they were running very far behind. They were seeing client #5 and I was client #27! Yes, you have it. In three hours, they had seen 5 people! So I went home and we had lunch and I put Makenna down for an hour and came back when they opened up after lunch at 1:00. We got there and sat to wait... and wait... and wait... Makenna was so cranky! I had woken her up to get back there by 1:00 and she was just so tired of being there (and so was I!)! She kept crying like crazy! So I called Austin and when he got done with class he came to get her at about 2:30. And I continued to sit and wait... and wait... and wait... I was the very last appointment to be seen today, even though other people had arrived after me! They finally got me in at about 5:15. So I met with the guy and he took my information and he said he was going to get me a card (I assume that meant we qualified). He came back. Oops! DES officially closed at 5:00 and all of the cards were locked in the vault... and they are closed until Tuesday because of Martin Luther King Day... so we have to come back Tuesday morning at 7:00! Great! The perfect ending to the perfect day: 8 hours at DES and nothing to show for it! I love Arizona state government (can you read my sarcasm)! My head hurts... I'm ready for bed.
