Part 2 of our week…

Holy smokes, batman, I’m going to post THREE times this week! We have just had such a busy, picture filled week that I kind of think I’m going to have to break it up more than usual!

So, our first post was from Monday when we went to the zoo.  It ended up being SUCH a nice day! We came home from the zoo and the kids took naps and then we went over to a friend’s house for dinner.  Her husband is a resident (not the one who works with Austin, but another one) and he was working late that night.  So we were two moms with four kids and we had a really nice dinner.  Thanks for inviting us over Jen! : ) Honestly, let’s do that more often when the hubby is working late!

On Tuesday we had Preschool at our house.  Another mom took Max for the two hours, and it was SO much better for me! I was able to concentrate just on the preschool kids and they were less distracted by a roaming around kid, PLUS Max had a great time playing with a little boy his age, PLUS I wasn’t so frustrated with dealing with a toddler while trying to teach school!

Here are a few pictures of Makenna from school:

Plus Makenna’s hair that day (I have to admit—a little crazy!):

That afternoon we did our grocery shopping.  It was, of course, pretty crazy and hectic (shopping with a 3 year old and a 2 year old is NEVER fun), but all in all another good day for us!

On Wednesday Makenna had a birthday party to go to, so Mr. Max and I had a little mommy-son date.  I have to admit, I had been having a really crummy morning that morning! Max was having tummy problems and got a mess all over the carpet, kitchen floor, and his bedroom. Not his fault, but still not fun for mom to have to take care of! The kids were fighting like crazy and I just plain didn’t feel well.  I was really, REALLY grumpy! Then Max and I went out for lunch, just me and him, and it COMPLETELY turned my day around! That little guy and I had so, so, so much fun! We were able to enjoy a nice lunch and just talk and hang out together.  Loved it! It is so wonderful to spend a little one-on-one time with your kids; I don’t get to do it nearly enough! So thanks, Max, for helping mommy have a much better day!

That morning, I also did a little photo session with Makenna.  Since my first-day-of-school pictures didn’t turn out so well, I decided to do a redo.  It wasn’t the first-day-of-school and it wasn’t even a school day, but oh well.  : )

On Thursday, we had our last day of preschool (for a couple of months) at our house. Once again, the mom took Max with her during school and we had a nice day of school!

Here are a few pictures of Makenna at school:

We had caramel apples for snack.  Yummy!

It was a fun day of school, but I’m glad that I will have a little break from teaching for the next few weeks! Here are a few pictures of some of the projects Makenna completed at school this week:

After school we quickly ate lunch and attempted naps, because that afternoon was Makenna’s “dancing girls” class! She took a month of ballet and tap in Arizona, and we are excited that she is going to be able to take classes again here in Michigan! The classes are taught by a girl in our ward, just in her basement, but the price is ridiculously affordable AND Makenna had SO, SO much fun in class on Thursday.  Win!!! : )

I only took one picture (because we just dropped the girls off), and it is with my phone so the quality is horrible, but you get the idea. These are the girls in Makenna’s dance class (Makenna is the second one from the end on the right):

While Makenna was in class, Max and I had some more one-on-one time.  We went to the Nature Center to check out the animals and then went on a little walk and played at the park.

Ha ha, love his expression here:

I also love his little face as he is swinging:

Another fun time spent with Mr. Max while Makenna had a great time at dance class!

Austin and I were talking about this the other night—our kids are SO, SO close! In fact, each morning at school this week Makenna cried when Max left to go and play with his friend.  She would say, “I really miss my Max!” And each time this week that the kids were reunited, they would hug like they had been apart for years! Despite all of their fighting and arguing, they LOVE each other! But, I think it is really beneficial to have them do their own things too.  So with Makenna starting preschool and doing dance, it will be good to have them separated a bit and get to grow on their own—and of course their reunion afterwards is great! : D

Okay, next up, our Friday field trip! So many pictures it deserves a post all on its own! : )
