Book Review

After waiting for about a month, I finally received a brand new book to review! This book is called The Witness and is by Josh McDowell. It is actually an "action" book. Now I have to admit, I usually only read the suspenseful type books if I am bored and have no other book in the house (and then I have to raid Austin's bookshelf because I do not personally own any books in that genre)! But I actually enjoyed this book!

Marwan Accad owns a security business and his clients are usually extremely rich people who are being blackmailed or have had a love one kidnapped for ransom or whatever. The book begins with Marwan meeting with a client who gets killed (along with everyone else in the house EXCEPT, of course, Marwan) right in front of him. From that point on Marwan is on the run from some very bad guys AND from the cops who think he is the murderer. His travels take him all over North Africa and Europe (which was extra cool because I have never really read anything that takes place in Africa) as he tries to clear his name and escape.

I really enjoyed the fast pace of this book. Seriously, everytime Marwan turns around it seems like someone is shooting at him! This book was also a plus because it has a romance. : )

Other pros? This is written by a Christian author so no foul language or anything that would make you have to skip part of the book! Marwan also experiences a conversion (this is an Inspirational Suspense/Action novel) but the book isn't too "preachy preachy."

The cons? It was a little bit predictable. We knew who the bad guys were the whole time so we didn't have as much of the suspense as I would normally like. But the novel was so fast pace that it didn't really matter too much.

I would say it is a book for guys (plenty of action) and girls (beautiful locations and a love story!). All in all, a great read and one that I will definitely reread!

Tyndale House Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book in return for my honest review!
