Our ward Christmas party this year was themed “Back to Bethlehem.” We were supposed to dress in “authentic” type clothing so I very quickly threw together some outfits for us to wear (I mean VERY quickly. I just used whatever fabric I had and didn’t even cut stuff!):
The kids said that Makenna was Mary:
And that Max was “Joseph.” Max said he was a tough guy who protected Mary!
At the party we were given some coins to go and spend in the “market place.”
We went to the “carpenter” and made a nativity ornament:
We got to eat some snacks that were modern day examples of what Christ would have eaten:
And then we went to “pottery” and made some cinnamon star ornaments.
Afterwards the kids played with some playdough in the back:
After everyone finished in the market, there was a performance of the Nativity. It was really great and it was good for the kids to be able to see the story acted out. They were a captivated audience the entire time (it was very warm inside so we ended up removing our costumes midway through)!
The roads were crazy bad that night. I mean CRAZY bad. There was tons of snow on the roads and they hadn’t been cleared at all yet. It was really bad out. However I was so thankful we went to the party. The spirit was there very strongly during the nativity play. It was a wonderful night and I’m thankful my family was able to enjoy it!
