Happy Birthday Mr. Max

Today my big (little) boy turned 4 years old. Can you believe it?!? Because I can’t!!! : )

Max was excited to see his birthday decorations when he woke up this morning.

For Max’s birthday, we had planned on getting him a big boy bike. Then we found out that I WON a balance bike on a Facebook contest. How awesome is that?!? Who wins a BIKE?!? SOOO awesome! Well yesterday we were all hanging out in the front yard when the FedEx lady showed up. She turns to Max and hands him the bicycle box (which CLEARLY is a bicycle box) and says, “This must by yours!” So much for the birthday surprise! So Max got his bicycle yesterday!

So since Max opened his bike yesterday, last night Austin went and picked up a few little things for Max to open this morning.

After presents, we had breakfast. Although Max doesn’t seem super excited in this picture, he chose all of his meals today. He was thrilled to have his chocolate cereal! Austin also surprised the kids by making cinnamon rolls before he left for work. Yum!

We were a bit behind on our chores this week, so the morning today was spent catching-up. Because it was his birthday, lucky duck Max got out of chores and spent his morning playing outside with his new bike, golf clubs, and bubbles while Makenna and I worked on chores.

Later, we had some friends over for lunch and a playdate. For lunch, Max decided on grilled hot dogs, cheetos, and strawberries. Totally healthy lunch! Oh well, you don’t have to worry about being healthy on your birthday, right?

Then for dessert we had Max’s choice of ice cream—rainbow sherbet. The kids loved it!

After a bit more play, Max opened the fun present his friends gave him. He loved his new puzzle and book and candy and basketball goal!

Thanks for coming over and celebrating Max’s birthday with us, friends! : )

The rest of the afternoon, Max spent his time doing his favorite thing: watching TV with Dad!

Max decided that this year he would rather go to Chuck E Cheese as a family rather than have a birthday party with friends. So we headed there next. We had fun eating pizza and riding the rides and playing games as a family!
