This week kicked off our summer fun activities. Things didn’t go according to plan AT ALL, but the kids still had fun so I guess that means it was a successful week!
We started things off Saturday with Makenna’s last day of Tball. It was HOT that day, so all the little kids had bright red faces and were downing water. But they had a fun little game and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Makenna getting ready to bat with a little help from batting-coach-Dad:
Look at her poor little red face! I kept calling her over to me and making her drink, drink, drink!
After the game, our hostess turned on the sprinklers and the kids had a BLAST getting wet and cooling off!
Maxie joined in on the wet fun as well. That’s him in the red shirt.
After some water fun, the kids had a pizza party to celebrate their great season. Then it was time for awards!
Thanking the coaches for the great year:
Myles may not have been an official coach, but he was out on the field quite a bit and held by coaches! : )
Makenna getting her medal and pictures. She was so, so excited about her medal!
This is a copy of Makenna’s official T-ball picture:
And a copy of the team picture (Austin wasn’t there for pictures). She is on the front row, third from the left.
On Monday, we had our Make it Monday and made a treat for FHE. It was Max’s turn to choose a treat, and he chose chocolate chip cookies.
Their favorite part—licking the beaters!
Things didn’t go quite as planned. My hand mixer stopped working, so we had to mix everything up in the standing mixer—which wasn’t as fun for the kids. Then Austin came home and we HAD to go to the grocery store before we could eat dinner, so we left before we actually baked the cookies. Then we got home late so we didn’t have FHE and Austin had to just bake the cookies after the kids went to bed. However, when we finally had FHE and cookies on Tuesday night, the kids loved them! : )
Tuesday was “Trip to the Beach Tuesday.” We got up at around 6 AM and drove Austin to work so we could keep the car… and then it started raining and we had a thunderstorm. So no beach trip for us! The kids were VERY disappointed—and so was mom! Seriously, rain?!? So to make up for it, I let the kids eat their picnic foods for lunch anyway and watch movies all day!
And then that night, after picking up Austin from work, we went to the Applebee’s Family Night and let them get their faces painted.
Wednesday was “Who’s Up for Crafts? Wednesday.” The weather was bad again, so we couldn’t paint with water outside. Instead I let the kids use water paints and just paint whatever they wanted. They actually painted for a couple of hours and had so much fun!

Makenna’s paintings:
On Thursday the kids didn’t go outside to play before lunch. Instead we made our ABC book (which I blogged about previously). In the afternoon, we had our “Thinking Thursday.” Makenna played games on Disney Jr. on the computer, while Max played games on my IPad.
That evening we had one of Austin’s co-workers and his wife over for dinner and we decided to BBQ. Well in the middle of my BBQing, it started storming and pouring down rain. So for dinner we had wet-not-as-well-done-as-I-would-like food : ( and after dinner we let the kids go outside and play in our front yard-turned lake.
How crazy is that?!? Who can SWIM in their front yard and driveway???
On Friday (today), the kids didn’t go outside to play again (it was TOO wet) in the morning, so instead they played with playdough all morning. This was another activity for Max’s library reading program—make ABCs out of playdough.
For “Funday Friday” we had planned to walk to the park. Well, it was raining and storming again so that didn’t work. Instead the kids played the Wii. This was a big treat for them because it has honestly been about a year since they have played the Wii (we usually just use it for Netflix or Amazon Prime or for Austin to play a game!). They had so much fun and played a Jumpstart (so educational!) game for a couple of hours!
This is Max’s character he made. Have you ever seen anything so hideous?!? Haha
So that was our week! A lot of changes of plans and bad weather, but the kids still had fun!
Now enjoy some pictures of the baby from this week. : )
This was actually last Thursday at Austin’s work party, but this was the baby in a baby swing for the first time. Too cute!
The baby still really hates tummy time, but he will tolerate it more if we put him on a pillow instead of flat on the floor. He can play with toys a lot easier that way!
Cute guy was “talking” up a storm one night before bed:
He actually lasted about 10 minutes on his tummy one day this week!
Cuddles with big sister:
These yahoos make it awfully hard for me to read my scriptures in the morning!
And Makenna’s hair this week (we are trying different hairstyles every day and taking pictures of them so we can have more pictures for her hair photo album so she has more to choose from when she starts school!):
And that is the end of week 1 of our Summer Fun!
