Today is Miss Makenna’s FOURTH birthday!!! I cannot comprehend the fact that my little girl is now four!
How did this:

become this:

and then this:

and then this:

and end up like this:

However it all happened, we are just glad it did! We REALLY love that little girl!
At four years old (which is still crazy for me to think about), Makenna is pretty darn grown-up. She LOVES all things fashion. She loves clothes (especially dresses and skirts and things that are frilly and pink or purple), shoes, and all accessories. She usually dresses herself and is pretty picky about what she chooses to wear. She got her ears pierced for her birthday last year, and she still loves to show her earrings off to each and every person she meets. She is also OBSESSED with long hair. Her ultimate compliment is for someone to mention how long her hair is getting. She believes that one day, and one day soon, her hair WILL be as long as Rapunzel’s!
Makenna enjoys playing with anything girlie. She loves playing with her baby dolls, Barbies, or little dolls. She is also a big fan of playing dress-up, and we often find her asleep in her bed at night wearing a princess dress and dress-up high heels. She and Max also really get into playing video games, though Makenna prefers her Disney Princess games to any of the other games we have. Makenna also really loves books—but prefers it if SHE is the one to “read” the book. She also loves to “read” books to Max.
Makenna is great at imaginative play. She is usually always the leader and Max goes along with whatever she wants to play. They pretend they are at dance class, Church, school, etc. Her current favorite play name is “Sabbanah.”
Speaking of dance class, Makenna LOVES to go to dance class and REVERES her dance teacher, Miss Jenni. : ) When she and Max play dance class, Makenna is ALWAYS Miss Jenni! She also loves to show us the dances and steps she is learning in class. Seriously, Makenna is constantly dancing and singing and we wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up on stage one day!
Makenna goes to joy school two times a week. She is a super smart little girl and knows all her ABCs and their sounds and is beginning to put words together and read them. She can count to 100 by herself and recognizes most of those numbers as well. Makenna can spell all of our names and can usually figure out how to spell other people’s names. She knows her birth date, Max’s birth day, and Austin’s birth day. She knows only that my birthday is in November. : ) Makenna can cut and glue well and loves to do arts and crafts projects. Makenna is still working on perfecting her handwriting, but she can write all of her letters and some of her numbers. She also knows how to say the Pledge of Allegiance, months of the year, and days of the week. She daily surprises us with more things that she knows and she memorizes things VERY quickly. She also NEVER forgets ANYTHING and has a way better memory than I do!
Makenna loves going to Church, especially now that she is in Primary. She thinks Sunbeam class is THE place to be each week. On the rare Sunday we miss church, Makenna prays, “Heavenly Father, please let me get to go to Church again next Sunday” EVERY SINGLE DAY until we take her again the next week! Makenna is picking up on all of the songs at church very quickly. She has also memorized the first two Articles of Faith and is learning the third one.She is learning so much about the gospel and truly tries to be good.
Makenna is still such a social butterfly. Her favorite friend is her “Maxie Poo” and she calls him “buddy” or “bud” because he is her best friend. Her second best friend is still her friend Natalie in Arizona. We may have been away for almost a year now, but she still talks about Natalie frequently and is counting down the days until she can see her again! She also really loves all of her friends from church, school, and dance class. Nothing makes her happier than having a bunch of friends to play with and wherever we go, she quickly makes a little friend.
Makenna is a big help. Although she sometimes complains about it, Makenna cleans up her room just as well as I do. She also helps me with the vacuuming, cleans the bathroom sink each day, and does most of the dusting. She also helps Max with his chores and even with getting dressed each day.
Makenna still occasionally has her temper tantrums, but each day is growing into more of a sweetheart. Still a diva, but a sweet diva. : )
Makenna we love you so, so much. It’s hard to remember our lives without you! Thank you for being in our family and we are so excited to spend many more years with you!
