I was visiting old roommates' Facebook pages today, and I saw that one former roommate had a blog on here. I thought, "With us moving and everything, it would be great if I created a blog that family and friends could keep up with us on!" Let's see now if I actually keep up with it... Yesterday was a busy day for our little family. Makenna had her 4 month checkup at 10am. I'm so proud of my little baby! She is such a grown up girl! The doctor said she is developmentally a 6 month old. She can already roll over, she wants to stand all of the time, she has perfect head control, she babbles constantly, and she doesn't want a bottle anymore--just baby food. We have a baby genius on our hands! But it was also a sad visit because she got her shots. She was okay with them yesterday (she mostly slept all day), but today she is being a very whiney girl! Not fun for the mom. Lucky dad gets to go to school all day and miss out on it! Well I guess I'm lying a little, she was super fussy this morning but she has been playing by herself for half an hour! Not too shabby!
Anyway, back to yesterday. Last night we invited a couple from church over for dinner. We have been married over a year and that was the very first time we have invited another couple over! Good grief! It was actually really, really fun. Why haven't we been doing this all along? Austin said last night we should really do this more often. But we move in three weeks! I guess it will be something for us to shoot for in Arizona. I don't know, for some reason getting married made me go back into my shell a little. It's been super hard for me to step outside of my comfort zone and get to know other people. But Austin will be super busy with podiatry school, so I'd guess I'd better or I will be one lonely mom!
I found out yesterday that one of my old roommates is engaged. I didn't even know she was dating anyone! I also saw online that another roommate has a boyfriend (and she has had one for almost a year), and another is about to graduate from college. How have I been so out of the loop? When Austin and I were dating, I was having a very busy semester. I was Relief Society president, doing my student teaching and all of the related work, and working at Melaleuca. I barely had time to even see Austin! So I didn't spend a lot of time with roommates. They moved on and got busy with other things. Now that I have finally got my life settled, they are too busy! It's a crazy cycle! I'm just sad I'm missing out on these important things in their lives.
I guess I'd better go check on the baby. It's too weird that she is playing by herself for so long... I wonder what is up... always something!
