Ugh, this week just did not seem so “fun” to me. I have felt nauseous and sick all week and it has been HOT. All week long we have had a heat advisory and, with the heat index, it has been over 100 degrees all week. So super hot and humid and our a/c hasn’t been able to keep up. So I just haven’t felt up to doing much and I haven’t been the best mom this week, that’s for sure!
On Saturday we made up our “Funday” Friday from last week. I gave the kids a list and they went outside and had a Nature Scavenger Hunt. They did it all by themselves and I think they did a great job finding everything!
On Sunday I got everyone ready for Church a little early, so I used the extra time to take a few pictures of the cute kiddos. Unfortunately I took the pictures on my phone so the quality isn’t great… but still cute!
On Monday we had our “Make a Treat” Monday… sort of. Myles had his 4 month check-up during our normal activity time. Plus, it was Austin’s turn to pick the treat and he picked (of all things) chocolate pudding. Not so much you can do with making chocolate pudding. So we just waited until he came home and he and the kids mixed it up really fast during FHE.
As I said, Myles had his 4 month check-up Monday (I’m not sure why his appointments are two weeks after his actual birthdays…). He now weighs 16 pounds, 9 ounces and is 25 1/2 inches tall. I came into the appointment pretty concerned about him still hating tummy time and having a flat head, but the doctor said do not worry about the tummy time because he is really strong and has great muscle tone and control. She said he just may never crawl because he won’t stay on his tummy! She also said that his flat head is just cosmetic and will go away as he gets older. She said it doesn’t even look that bad so don’t worry about it. So that was a relief for me. She said he looks great and absolutely perfect!
Myles had his vaccinations on Monday as well. He had an oral one and then four in his little legs. He let out a little cry when they stuck him but then was fine after that. In fact, that night he was a happy little guy!
Tuesday is normally “Trip to the Beach” Tuesday, but this week it was “Trip to the Dentist” Tuesday instead. : ) When I scheduled their appointments six months ago I didn’t even THINK about having beach days on Tuesday. But we wouldn’t have gone to the beach anyway because poor baby Myles was MISERABLE on Tuesday (and Wednesday… and Thursday…). He cried and he cried and he cried. His little legs hurt like crazy and it even hurt him for me to walk while holding him. He also had a little fever. He just did not react well to his shots this time!
Poor baby. I didn’t even know if we were going to be able to go to the dentist because he was so upset. He actually was good just for the dentist appointment and then was super sad again immediately afterwards. : ( I felt so sad for him!
The kids’ dentist appointment went well. The dentist said their teeth looked great and good job brushing (which doesn’t that mean good job to me and Austin? Haha cause we brush their teeth!!!).
Wednesday was “Who’s Up for Crafts?” Wednesday. We were scheduled to play with side walk chalk outside, but it was just too, too hot. I’m sorry, but I’m not sitting outside in the driveway when it is 105 outside! So instead I rolled out some paper and drew a road down the middle of it, and the kids made their own city play mat to play with. I was so impressed with everything they came up with to go in their city! I was also impressed with how long they played with it. We kept it on the floor all week and they just kept coming back to play!
The kids each added their own things to the city (although Makenna labeled everything for both of them). I bet you can’t tell who drew what ; )

So cute and so fun! Love it!
“Thinking” Thursday was just the usual—playing on our IPads:
Today (Friday) I cheated. For “Funday” Friday we were scheduled to play balloon volleyball. I didn’t feel up to it, so instead I let the kids each pick a movie and we veg-ed out in front of the TV. : D
Other pictures from this week:
We started back our school time this week. We are just doing worksheets, but hopefully they will be all set when it comes September and back-to-school time!
Makenna is doing both going-into-first-grade and going-into-second grade worksheets:
She is doing great at it so far. Most of it is really, really easy for her, but it is still good for her to practice her math skills. I’m glad we are reviewing because I found that she needed the review in subtracting and time and money!
Max is working on going-into-kindergarten pages. He is really good at math and shapes, but sight words are a new thing for him and he still struggles with remembering the names of letters.
I told Max to color his shapes, but I didn’t realize he would do it quite so COLORFUL, haha. He spent more time coloring these circles than his other work combined!
Reading time:
These two! Even watching a movie they are joined at the hip!
The big kids had a guest at school time:
I made the kids a “tent” and they loved having reading time in it this week:
Baby pictures this week:
Goofy baby. He still REALLY hates tummy time. The ONLY way I can get him to do it even for a minute is to put a little pillow under his chest!
Look at how big this guy is getting! He is almost too long for his changing table!
He wouldn’t take a nap one day this week so I went and checked on him. For some reason this silly boy thinks if he kicks off his swaddle it is party time! He will NOT sleep!
We started solids this week! The doctor said he has good head control and is now more than double his birth weight, so we could try solids to see if he likes it. Oh buddy does he like it! From the very first bite he smacked his lips and wanted more! Unfortunately, eating solids isn’t helping him nurse less or sleep more (at least not yet)… The doctor said to just keep feeding him at night (last night he got up THREE times!) until he turns 6 months and then no more! I’m ready for 6 months, haha. Mama is tired!
We tell Myles he is wearing his “purse” because this is what always happens to his toys:
Makenna’s Hair this week:
Saturday. We gave her a zig-zag part and then gave her two Dutch braids. Then we twisted her braids together. I thought it sort of looked like a patch-work quilt.
Sunday we straightened her hair and then gave her some cute braids:
On Monday we tried a new braid and I loved how it turned out! We did a braid down the top of her head and then wrapped it around the side and the back. Then we tucked the braid up and made a braided flower. So cute!
On Tuesday we laced together two French braids. I loved how it made it look like one intricate braid!
On Wednesday we did a fancy-looking braid. I’m not sure what it’s called, but it looked cute. : )
On Thursday we used two braids to wrap her pony tail.
Friday (today) I haven’t been feeling well, so I just did a messy halo braid.
And that’s our week. Austin has the weekend off (his first day off in like four weeks!) so we have SO much to do! But we are so excited to have him with us for a couple days!

Very cute, as usual! Make sure Austin gets a nap in--first day off in a month sounds like he deserves a little break!
Have a happy weekend!
love the fancy hair! I'm lucky charlotte's hair is just one big curly poof, I just stick gel in it and there ya go. The parts and braids and all, you'd think since I had 4 sisters I'd be good at doing girl hair, but nope!
Wow love the fancy hairdos! I am lucky my girl just has a big curly poof ball, because I am not good at all the parts and braids and whatnot :)
