I slept very poorly on Christmas Eve. I have a cold and sinus problems, so I had a horrible time trying to sleep. Finally I ended up sleeping on the couch so I could sleep sitting up (and possibly be able to breath!). I finally woke up for good at around 5 am. We told the kids they could get up early so I waited… and waited… and waited… and still no one got up! My lazy bones family didn’t wake up until 8:15! Seriously, they do this to me EVERY YEAR! I always wake up super early on Christmas, and then everyone decides to sleep in! Haha, can we be sure they are actually my children?!? : )
Finally everyone got up and we went to the Christmas tree to see what Santa brought!
This year Santa brought quite a few books and some movies. Not necessarily the most exciting presents, but things I think will keep the kids occupied, especially after the new baby comes! The kids didn’t seem disappointed at all-- they kept saying, “How did Santa know I would like this?!?” : )
Her very own “make-up”:
This is Makenna’s most-used Christmas expression:
After they’d opened all the presents under the tree, I “remembered” that I had heard a noise that sounded like Santa Claus in the laundry room. The kids went to check out what it could have been and they found their new scooters!
Unfortunately we got a lot of snow on Christmas Eve, so they haven’t got to try out their scooters yet. But they were still super excited with them!
After we opened presents, we enjoyed a yummy meal prepared by Austin. He is the BEST breakfast cook!
The rest of the morning was spent playing with new toys and watching movies. We didn’t even get out of our pjs all day!
Trying out her new make-up and nails:
The kids both got these light writers for Christmas. They look like little ipads (so the kids call them their ipads), but they are basically these little screens that you write on with dry erase markers and then you can turn on a light that changes the color of the writing. Makenna had a lot of fun writing notes to us on her “ipad”:
Listening to books on CD:
This is the only picture I managed to get of Mr. Max playing. He was much too busy running around playing to get any pictures!
After lunch and nap time, we spent our afternoon/evening doing more of the same—playing with toys, reading new books, and watching movies. After a super yummy Christmas dinner (once again, made by Austin!), we Skyped with Austin’s family and enjoyed Christmas cookies (made by Austin!) and watched a Nativity movie. In her family prayer before bed, Makenna prayed, “Please bless that Jesus had a good birthday.” : ) It was a great end to a pretty perfect day!
