I’m Tired!

I don’t know if it is because we had a busy week or not, but I’m tired! And tomorrow, Sunday, will be the busiest day of all, so I thought I should get a post out tonight while I had a chance!

Let’s see, on Monday our Play and Learn theme was “Caps for Sale.”  The teacher read the book Caps for Sale to the kids and then they were able to do some crafts and activities based on the book.

Creating “hats”:

And of course Max is pouring on the glue!

And of course Makenna is adding on the sparkle!

Next we sorted “caps”:

Makenna sorted hers by color and in a “big, small” pattern:

She was SO proud of herself : )

Max settled on sorting his by color.  Red:

Then green:

Then we fingerpainted our own trees and added thumb print “monkeys” to them (in the story monkeys in a tree take the man’s caps):

I’m not sure who thought it would be a good idea to give Max paint…

IMG_0707

Okay, look at this next picture.  You KNOW what is about to happen, don’t you!

IMG_0705

Yup! Paint on his face AND in his mouth!

IMG_0709

I was a fast working mama to get that kid in the bathroom to wash up before paint was EVERYWHERE! Max = trouble!

IMG_0710

After centers, we cleaned up and the kids had their snacks.  Then story time!

     IMG_0715

Makenna was SO cute! She was really into the story! Max… well notice in the first picture that he wasn’t even there.  He kept escaping! He didn’t want to have story time! Once again, Max = trouble! Good thing he is so cute! ; )

 IMG_0717

Then we had a little movement time.  The kids balanced beanbags on their heads, just like the man in the story balanced his caps on his head!

These pictures of Max crack me up.  I think he looks like those little monkeys that play the cymbals.  Do you know what I mean?  No one knows what I mean… I’ll have to find a picture and post it later!

IMG_0721 IMG_0722 IMG_0723 It was another fun class!  And this time I remembered to take a picture of their finished work!

Another fun play and learn!

On Tuesday we headed to the beach.  It was a GORGEOUS day! Not a cloud in the sky and a perfect temperature. However, I ended up getting tired and ready to go before the kids did!  I’ve been a tired bum this week; I dunno what’s up with that!

Makenna had fun playing with her friends and Max was completely ridiculous.  First of all, he would stand, bent over at the waist, with the top of his head in the water.  Then, he wouldn’t answer unless people called him “Garbage Man” (this kid is OBSESSED with garbage lately!).  And then he would just growl when people talked to him.  He was pretty darn silly!

That’s Makenna over to the right in the pink swimsuit.

On Wednesday I mowed the grass in the morning.  Seriously, it was just mowed the Saturday before.  This fast-growing-grass thing is getting ridiculous! Anyway, then in the afternoon we went over to a friend’s house for birthday cake and then went to play with them at the park.

Makenna was pretty sweet and pushed the baby in the swing. : )

Thursday was a pretty chill day.  We did head to the library in the afternoon.  Makenna checked out her typical books—lots of pink and princesses.  Max checked out books about garbage men and garbage trucks and he has been in heaven with them! : )

On Friday, Makenna had her first ever drop-off birthday party to go to! These pictures were totally stolen off of the mom’s Facebook—because I wasn’t at the party! : )

Makenna told me that they played “Candycane” (also know as Candyland):

Then she said they colored a picture:

And they had “rainbow cake and ‘nilla ice cream!”

And opened presents:

Makenna made a card (with some help from mom) for her friend.  I love her cute little drawings!:

She was so excited (yet a little nervous) to go to a party without her mom.  But afterwards she told me she had “so much fun and I was a good girl!” : ) While she partied, the Mr. Max and I headed to the park to play.  But I  was too busy playing to take pictures. : ) Max was a little lost without having Makenna to play with, so I pushed him on the swing for a LONG time to make up for it!

I’m so happy that our kids are making friends with some fun people! It totally makes our move much easier and will hopefully make our time-without-Daddy (only two more weeks!) go by quickly.

Today, Saturday, we did some grocery shopping and Sam’s Club sampeling, and then tonight I am bringing dinner to a girl in our ward who just had a baby.

Tomorrow is super busy! Austin and I are both giving talks in Sacrament meeting and then we teach our Primary class.  After Church, one of the kids in our class is getting baptized.  Then tomorrow night we have a friend from Arizona (he is on rotations here in Michigan this month) coming over for dinner. Busy day!

A couple of pictures to end out the post.  First of all, in September Makenna starts a little Preschool co-op.  She is SUCH a smart girl.  She knows her letters and their sounds, can count to 100 with limited help, knows all of her colors and shapes, can say her months of the year and days of the week, and can even sound out easy words.  However, she hasn’t been able to write! The doctor told me that she is so advanced in so many things, so not to worry about her lack of writing.  However, with her starting preschool, I wanted her to be able to at least write her name.  So this week I decided to practice with her.  And within five minutes, this was our result:

IMG_0752 Not too bad for a first attempt from a 3 year old! “K” is really hard for her, but she gets the other letters no problem! So I decided to try all of the alphabet (the top letters, of course, are mine.  But if you look closely you can make out Makenna’s attempt):

IMG_0753

I’m pretty proud of my little girl! I know she will do great at school! : )

Last of all, here are some of our hairstyles this week:

We are having fun with this long hair! : )

Sounds like a fun week! Who is there on a rotation this month?
